The designer’s timeline
for a timeless design sake

Since her childhood, Kerstin was influenced by fashion. In Eastern Germany at that time garments were very austere and neutral. Nevertheless because of family ties she was able to wear beautiful dresses from other countries like West Germany, France and Italy. It is because of this impression as a child that she was made aware of the differences between different qualities in design and manufacture of garments.
“Let’s have a look at the label” It was her mother who taught her to observe the details of manufacture and fabric content in garments. She valued natural fibers.
At a young age Kerstin developed her creativity and began to draw and paint. With this talent she reached a coveted place at the art conservatory in Rostock.
Painting and art are still the main source of inspiration in her works.

Kerstin graduated from the top school with honours in Rostock and moved to Berlin to enter an internship which was a prerequisite in those times from the only fashion design college in Berlin Weißensee . It involved working in a garment manufacturing company. This was 1989 a key moment in history because of the fall of the iron curtain. This opened up all possibilities for Kerstin to follow her dream to become a fashion designer.
After the wall came down Kerstin decided to travel to experience other cultures and influences.

One country that captivated her was Mexico where she stayed 3 years and continued her professional advancement in the fashion industry more specifically fashion advertisement.

While in Mexico she applied to study Fashion Design in New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) one of the most renowned schools for fashion worldwide.

There not only did she study design but she also had internships with Geoffrey Beene and Mary McFadden two icons of American fashion. She then went on to work for start-up Rubin Chappelle which today is very successful in the Meat Packing District in NY and Malibu, CA.

It is in 2002 when she settled definitively in Madrid with her young family and became the author of her own brand which launched her first collection in March 2011.
